Hot Docs Festival 2016

Hot Docs Festival is North America’s largest yearly documentary festival and always provides enlightening and thought provoking work. The 2016 Toronto Hot Docs ran from April 28-May 8 and awards were given out to the following:

Best Canadian Feature Documentary Award

Special Jury Prize – Canadian Feature Documentary
The Prison in Twelve Landscapes (D&P: Brett Story; Canada, USA)

Emerging Canadian Filmmaker Award
Sébastien Rist and Aude Leroux-Lévesque, Living With Giants (Canada)

Best International Feature Documentary Award
Brothers (D: Aslaug Holm; P: Tore Buvarp; Norway)

Special Jury Prize – International Feature Documentary
God Knows Where I Am (D: Todd Wider, Jedd Wider; P: Brian Ariotti, Todd Wider, Jedd Wider; USA)

Emerging International Filmmaker Award
Mike Day, The Islands and the Whales (UK, Denmark)

Best Mid-Length Documentary Award
Dugma: The Button (D: Paul S. Refsdal; P: Ingvil Giske; Norway)

Best Short Documentary Award
The Shining Star of Losers Everywhere (D: Mickey Duzyj; P: Mona Panchal; USA
